17.9 CLUB TELEMARK @ LEPAKKOMIES live: THE RAN + THE FRIEND + Club Telemark Djs

There are always these certain things you expect to hear when it comes to hearing bands from New York or Manchester or even Montreal... or Turku. The Friend is one of the most important Turku bands out there these days. Maybe the most important. These boys really seem to know what they want to do: tight and dancable indie-pop songs that simply make the crowd dance 'til exhaustion.

This night was the first time I actually heard this band called The Ran. All I knew was that they were a band with members from Turkey, Russia and Finland. And that my dear collague Teppo had just joined them for guitar duties. I have to say I was nothing but positively surprised when they started to play. Once again the crowd had no chance to sit. No no. Dope, catchy pop songs, an excellent singer (reminded me a bit of Brandon Flowers) and a performance full of energy! Simply a really good show.

19.8 CLUB TELEMARK @ LEPAKKOMIES

19.8. Live: NEUFVOIN, SWEET MOSES, Club Telemark DJs.

Neufvoin, the rising musical hope of Kuopio made an energetic start for the evening. They kept every minute interesting with some indie-pop here, some prog-rock there, ending their epic set with a huge melody-painting called 'Villasukka'. That's a song name to look philosophical meanings for!

The second band, Sweet Moses literally threw the audience back in time with their groovy & hazy back-to-the-seventies rock'n'roll full of harmonies, sounding still fresh and alive. These guys know how to rock with feeling as good as they know the streets of Kallio. Ian Anderson, step aside...
